Calling all Beatles fans! This opus will please them. A trip to the end of the sixties certified. At the time of Abbey Road more precisely. Do you remember Klaatu? Those Canadian guys (especially by the first albums) could create a Fab Four atmosphere: some even thought they were the Beatles under a pseudo! Here the sensation is similar. Even the front and back covers suggest those heydays (a logo and lamp of that time). A pity the album is short (only 6 songs 3 minutes long each) for those four Canadian lads (yes, they come from Canada too!) are gifted. You'll enjoy the harmony vocals, the catchy melodies, the humour (the band's name for instance)..."A splendid time is guaranteed for all". Roland Roque, Acid Dragon Music Magazine
"Symphony In DeMeanor hail from Vancouver, Canada, and this is their debut CD. It is only six tracks, and one of them is a cover of 'White Rabbit', but the other self-penned songs show what a great band this is. From the picture on the press release I would say that the band are all in their early forties, and so 60's psyche and pop influences are all present in the music. The first song they ever recorded - 'Lonely Fool' - opens the album, and from the off you can hear traces of 60's and 70's pop and rock. This continues into the more up-tempo 'Say Good-Bye', which combines Spock's Beard style harmonies with a very Beatle-ish middle eight. The harmonies turn to the Beach Boys for 'Crazy Man', and they bring out the heavy guitars for the closing 'Farewell Marissa'. 'White Rabbit' has always been one of my favourite songs, and generally I do not like to hear them interfered with, but this version is perfectly acceptable, and the whole album is a polished piece of work. After only one hearing I remembered every track on the second play, which for me is the mark of great song-writing. If you like well-crafted songs in an ELO/Queen/Beatles style played by a band who know what they are doing then check out their website....where you can buy the album for the ridiculously low sum.... and if you cannot afford that then they will let you download it for free. A very generous band, and I look forward to a full-length album at the earliest opportunity." Peter Jolly, Feedback Music Magazine
"We are very fortunate here at "I.N."... we always seem to stumble on the "new trends" in music... not just the music itself, but changes in the Internet marketing arena, & trends that are happening. This CD is a great representation of that... the group was just voted the 2005 "BEST ALBUM" in the 2nd annual "International On-Line Music Awards" (IOMA)... the entire album is available for free download at www.symphonyindemeanor.com with a printable/downloadable cover now, ain't THAT cool? & of course, they wouldn't be in this magazine unless they had something unique, musically, to offer! The CD they sent me has various & sundry styles, that they call "new music - retro sound", & not much else could describe it better.... it is NOT just "Beatles re-hash"... they've got some cuts on the album that come awfully close to the Fab Four in content & psychedelic style, but they've merged some very funky guitars, organ & drums that keep this (DECIDEDLY) "new music". I'm wondering, as I sit here listening, "is this a resurgence of the great musical energies that happened during the '60's?" The strings & symphonic sounds on "Another Birthday", track 4 (my favorite cut on the CD) show some wonderful capabilities at composing, then move into near-prog turf; I'm telling you, these guys kick the walls down, & write a "mean song"! It's clear that they love playing music, & I've no doubt (not even a little one) that listeners all over the world will love their music! We can't wait for "The Second One", guys! This one gets a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, & the "PICK" of this issue for "most creative approaches to music & 21st Century music"! As indicated above, visit their site above & get this whole album/cover for free... then, if you agree with my assessment, hit the PURCHASE button... support this band, they're doin' great things." "Symphony in Demeanor gives psychedelic rock with lots of Jeff Lynne-type production and a smidgen of Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" influence. Picture Jeff Lynne's work on the Beatles (or rather 'Threetles') 1995 "reunion" tracks ("Free as a Bird" and "Real Love"). There are 5 original songs, along with a great cover of "White Rabbit", complete with backwards guitar. In fact, the cover of this Jefferson Airplane classic is my favorite thing on this disc, great arrangement! .... if you like psychedelic rock you will really dig this CD. Symphony in Demeanor reminds me of an updated Klaatu and that's not a bad thing!" Scott H. Platt, Ear Candy Music Magazine
"Hailing from Canada, this is the first CD by...Symphony in DeMeanor.... and features five self-penned tracks plus an excellent cover of the Jefferson Airplane classic, White Rabbit. They write witty and well crafted material with a hint of The Beatles, ELO....They have an impressive and fun website where the album can be ordered or even downloaded." Terry Craven, Classic Rock Society Magazine
Weighing in at under just under 21 minutes Symphony in DeMeanor's debut CD, The First One, uses just 6 songs to display the powerhouse of great talent and song writing that is the Vancouver based quartet Symphony in Demeanor. Listeners will definitely hear shades of ELO and the Beatles arrangement style, a touch of Santana like guitar tone and virtuoso mastery, and rich vocal harmonies that would make the Beach Boys proud. Symphony in Demeanor also aptly demonstrates they have gone beyond being merely just a product of their influences by improving on what has been before.
