DREAMS

I was a dreamer

And you were my fantasy

You could say anything at all

I’d hear you calling me

Never leave your dreams behind

Hope is all that feeds the mind

You were a painter

And the canvas was my mind

You could paint anything at all

The beauty I would find

Forgotten places, or so it seems

Empty faces, disfigured dreams

How have all the years gone by

I see you pause, a heavy sigh

You made your choices, so long ago

It’s too late now, how was I to know

You did your best what you thought was right

Look ahead, forget hindsight

I was a joker

I was funny and insane

But the laughter that you heard

Was hiding all the pain
