ANOTHER BIRTHDAY
He woke up, early in the morning
Wanted to look his best, for all his children
Surely they'd be here, and he'd be ready waiting
Sitting on the porch, anticipating
The old man sighed
Waiting for his children to pull up outside
Surely they'd be here
To help him celebrate the passing of another year
To share a drink or maybe just to lend an ear
To ease his fear
Of dying
The hour grew late, no sign of anyone
But he hoped he'd hear, from all his children
Maybe they would call, ring to say hello
Happy Birthday Dad, we'll come out tomorrow
The old man cried
Let out all the hurting that he felt inside
Surely they'd be here
To help him celebrate the passing of another year
To share a drink or maybe just to lend an ear
To ease his fear
Of dying
